Engineering & Science at the Nanoscale with Field-assisted, Solution-based Methods
Jerry Shan
Jerry Wei-Jen Shan received all his degrees from the California Institute of Technology: Ph.D. in Aeronautics in 2001, M.Sc. in Aeronautics in 1996, and B.Sc. in Engineering & Applied Science in 1995. Professor Shan is a fluid dynamicist with experience in experiments and analysis of fluid flows at scales ranging from flows about individual nanoparticles, to transport in cells, to large-Reynolds-number turbulent flows. He is a recipient of the CAREER award from the National Science Foundation, and two Excellence in Teaching Awards from the Rutgers Engineering Governing Council. He currently serves as Graduate Program Director for the Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering, and on the board of the Proceedings of the Royal Society of London A.
Our focus is on fluid mechanics at the micro- and nano-scale. We are interested in both basic science, and applications to scalable manufacturing of nanodevices and nanomaterials, green power, and biology and medicine.
